As for WHAT piece of GF Awesomeness of furniture to use in your kitchen, seems to me you need something akin to the Eastlake wardrobe, mainly because angles may be easier to keep clean in a kitchen than scrolly things. I Love the idea of filling the range wall with an antique piece.

Out of curiosity, what is the room adjacent to the blank wall in your drawing? Reason I ask, we once did a bump-OUT into the garage for our refrigerator, so it would sit flush in it’s new position, and we could therefore actually GET into the utility room beyond it! Oh, the garage was also an addition…had been just a cheap little carport over a slab. The entry door from the kitchen then went next to the refrigerator. Two problems solved. Hope the people who bought our house right after we finished the improvements enjoy them!

Why not just get rid of the range and fridge and put the GFT in the third picture along the back wall? Get a drinks fridge and do take-out every night. You do need to set priorities-in my book GFTs far outweigh cooking.

Thanks to you I now search Craigslist daily for “fancy” and found some great stuff. I’ve not purchased anything yet but it’s only a matter of time!

I would keep the kitchen layout you have now. Find someone to custom make some great looking cabinets for you to work with your style. Remove the island. Put the cabinets of awesomeness on the wall with the window. I would even consider removing that window (depending on view/placement with the rest of the house. I don’t have a sense of
that unfortunately). You could float a table in the middle of the room in place of the island, maybe something round. I don’t think the room will feel too narrow with the awesome cabinet minus the island.

I’m still sad that you can’t use the Narnia/Downtown Abby closet in the kitchen.
