Meet me at the Country Living Fair.
I’m going on tour— bringing my message of motivational hoarding to the needy masses!
I have demanded the appropriate superstar requirements for my dressing room:
champagne!
kittens!
marines!
I will reveal the secrets of the universe! Giant Fancy Things!
I will be bringing wisdom! Jazz hands! Enlightenment! Strangely oversized accessories!
Does that sound amazing or what!
You know Country Living Magazine?
Yes, that one.
Do you know they host a three-day event?
The pages of Country Living Magazine come to life! Great shopping for antiques, furniture, handcrafted goods, art, vintage and upcycled goods, home and garden decor… Plus Country Livings’s Kitchen and Main stages with demos and presentations by the editors and their guests, live music, how-to’s, and artisan demonstrations throughout the fair.
I’ll be in:
— Rhinebeck NY Sunday, June 4 @ noon, Main Stage (all the fair info is here… final schedule is not up yet– I’ll update when it’s available!)
— Columbus OH Saturday, September 16 @ time tbd, Main Stage (all the fair info is here, no schedule yet)
I will be dancing! Singing! Marching around and twirling a flag and behaving staunchly, while wearing an outfit made entirely of scarves, towels, and an excessive number of vintage brooches… I mean, hello! WHY WOULD YOU DEPRIVE YOURSELF? (do I need to be concerned this reference is lost on you?)
Also, whatevs but you can also see some HGTV people and shop like nine million vendors… incase (weirdly) the thrill of my personality isn’t enough to get you to leave the house.

I would love to see you in Rhinebeck! I’m so happy that you’ll be appearing there and I’ve always wanted to attend the fair. Plus, I’m a fan of both jazz hands and GFTs.

Exciting for you! Alas, I live in Missouri, no where near N.Y. This fair never comes to my area, or even nearby. BOO! 🙁
Hoping to see many photos and a lengthy post upon your return.
Good luck to all the locals!

The country living fair in Rhinebeck is always fun. Especially when a town over is one of the best french restaurants I have ever been to in the US.
And love your reference to little Edie. Actually my wife and I love all reference to grey gardens. To the point we bought a foreclosure in the poconos and when we found a raccoon running around INSIDE the house (and since we are two crazy broads) we had to name it Grey Gardens Lakeside. We even have a wooden boat named little Edie.

What’s the name of the restaurant? I’d love to try it. My current favorite French restaurant in the US is Chez Nous in Lee, MA.

A friend and I are SOOOO excited to be going to Rhinebeck! We are CLfair newbies. Love your blog and I am more than a little bit jealous of the treasures you find. I lived in Philadelphia and now South Jersey and never see treasures like yours. Can’t wait to see you in Rhinebeck!

I suspect we are related on some cosmic level – sisters of another mother – and all that! I will gladly make the pilgrimage to Rhinebeck to see all your awesomeness, and other stuff too!

This sounds like such a fantastic event! Boogers that I can’t go since it’s a bit of a hike from North Carolina, but please take LOTS OF PICTURES and share about the fair in your hilarious blog posts so we can enjoy it all vicariously. I can’t wait to see what Giant Fancy Things follow you home from the fair…

Rhinebeck, NY is almost exactly halfway between the adopted hometowns of my college roommate and me. Your post inspired we two collectors of GFT to meet in the middle. We’ll be there with scarves and vintage brooches on instead of bells. Ok, there may also be bells. Depends on the scarf.

Road Trip! If I win free tickets, I can take my buddy for her 61st birthday! We just talked about how much fun it would be to go.
