Door inspiration: Philadelphia, Society Hill. Historic Doors and Entrances.
Paul and I did the Society Hill home and garden tour yesterday, in Philadelphia.
I continue to be obsessed with old marble stairs, ornate entrances, any kind of interesting entablature, and elaborate architectural elements.
I thought I took pictures of the interiors and gardens… but when I uploaded my photos, it appears I spent most of the day ogling doorways.
It was wonderful and all… but by the end of the afternoon, I was really tired of looking at other people’s beautiful homes.
I don’t think we saw two of the same.
choosing the perfect red paint for our front door
I will love you EVEN MORE… if you share me with your friends.

I love the lime green door. It’s my favorite door color.

I know! I love the green too. I think it could even be a shade brighter.

Love all the doors! You’ve given me a trip down memory lane, I spent a good 3-4 months researching doors before we decided on ours, after all the entrance to a home says alot.

The entrance does say a lot… currently mine says—Welcome to the circus.
I’m assuming that’s your door color in your picture? Did you go with gloss? I really love a high-sheen paint, but husband disagrees.

All the doors are so lovely. We will be repainting the exterior door of our current project in the next couple weeks. Ryan just likes plain white, but I’m loving the glossy black or deep red. Thanks for all the pics – you saved me time from having to find examples!

I love the red in the last photo. So classic.

Hmmmm….Interesting doors on Georgian architecture…..must be why Dublin reminded me so much of the Society Hill area 😉

Oh, that’s really interesting! Every door was slightly different, and the variety was so appealing.
After we did the tour, I read up on the history of Georgian vs Federal vs Greek Revival…

That’s totally my aunt’s house in one of your pictures! It’s a beautiful neighborhood.

Aggravatingly, my comment–notifications aren’t working… (I have no idea why) and it’s only just occurred to me to actually LOOK manually in my dashboard to see what’s new…
Your aunt is lucky. Those houses are wonderful!

Our tour guide told us that traditional each color door represented what religion the owner was but, I can’t remember which color represents which religion except, that white was agnostic.
