Vintage Bath Ideas
I thought I’d tell you a little about what I had in mind for the bath.
- Classic, Victorian feel.
- White, white, white, white, white. Possibly more white.
- Greyish carrara.
- Anything shiny.
- Super fancy and glamorous… even though it’s a small bathroom, and our budget doesn’t even remotely cover any of these ideas.
I also wanted Paul to magically expand the bathroom by fifteen feet in all directions. But he assured me that was beyond the scope of possibility.
Looking at baths online— you forget that you have limited space. You see this:

And think, hmmm, yes. That will be perfect. That is exactly what I had in mind.And then you go and look at this:

The tub with the grand mirror behind it and then the lovely crystal chandelier? You mean the tub with too much lighting and the mirror which shows too many personal flaws. I’m over 50–not happening.
I am just starting reading the whole way through your blog. My last kid moved out and I needed something to do! (har har)

I also walk into my room in progress, and I think my soul vomits a little bit. I always wish for the unbelievable expanse that pictures show…rather than the limits of this house, any house, or physics.

…”my soul vomits a little bit.” I read that line at LEAST 20 times and it makes me laugh (seriously, out loud, ridiculous, guffaws) more each time. We have a half bath that is approximately 4′ x 6′. I used to think it made me sad. I now know that it really makes “my soul vomit a little bit.” Thanks for the sore stomach muscles from laughing so hard!

Your post was hilarious! How could Paul lose patience with someone so fun? And funny? I get what you mean about the endless scrolling. A girl likes to know her options. All of em. Thanks for sharing. Your bathroom looks divine.

I just became a subscriber to your website today and am enjoying every bit of it. But, how in the world do you do so much buying, building, planning, etc., and still have time to write such amazing pieces?

Was the leaded glass door in the bathroom original? If not, where did u buy it? I love it!
